A 29-year-old man was sentenced to seven days of imprisonment for assaulting a woman and a minor girl.
Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman yesterday imposed a one-year sentence on Christino Selkor for two counts of assault and battery.
But it was all suspended except for seven days for each count to be served concurrently with credit for one day already served by Selkor at the Department of Corrections facility.
The Attorney General’s Office charged Selkor with child abuse and two counts of assault and battery for incidents that happened in 2008 and 2009.
Wiseman required Selkor to report to Corrections on Aug. 13, and to be released on Aug. 19, 2010.
“If you are not present, a warrant for your arrest will be issued by the court,” Wiseman told Selkor.
Selkor appeared for his change of plea hearing yesterday in Wiseman’s courtroom.
He signed a plea agreement with his counsel, Assistant Public Defender Douglas W. Hartig, and Assistant Attorney General Brian D. Gallagher, the prosecutor.
Selkor was ordered to pay a $50 fine, a $25 court assessment fee, and a probation fee to be determined by the Adult Probation Office.
After his release from prison, Selkor will be placed on one year supervised probation and will perform 75 hours of community work service.
Selkor will undergo evaluation from the Community Guidance Center to determine if he is an appropriate candidate for counseling, and if so, he must obtain the recommended counseling, the court said.
Selkor will also obtain and maintain full-time employment, and obey all CNMI and federal laws, the court ordered.

Very sad to mention!
Full Blooded Indigenous (Local People) deserve to be in PARADISE.
There is no REAL punishment here if you're a local criminal. Wiseman is political hack who buys votes with lenient sentences. His judgments have very little to do with justices or punishment. The bad boys love him. Their families vote for guys like David Wiseman and he stays employed.
We see appropriate sentences only when the crimes are tried in Federal Court. Local cases are a joke. Our system is sick!!!
