WORK has not started yet on the fencing project for the House of Manhoben-Youth Center in Chalan Kanoa. Karidat, a non-profit charity organization, wanted the project to start five months ago.
Karidat executive director Angie Deleon Guerrero told the Variety that they were just waiting for the approval from the Department of Public Works, but now they learned they had to wait for additional funds to start the project.
Deleon Guerrero said the fencing project was supposed to begin in September last year after they acquired $5,000 funds from the Legislature and another $5,000 grant from TakeCare Foundation.
They were just were waiting for DPW to come up with the specifications and other requirements before the project could begin.
But Deleon Guerrero said they just learned that the cost of materials has gone up.
The House of Manhoben needs a fence to prevent vandals from defacing its walls.
It holds various developmental classes for teens especially during summer to foster their self-esteem, self-reliance and self-confidence. The classes included lessons on crafts and arts as well as sports clinics.
