“This is only the second year this award has been given, and it covers the entire region of Asia and Oceania,” he told Variety.

“I’m very proud of our staff in Saipan, Palau and Guam. They have excelled in both customer service with the passengers and service to the airlines.”

He said airline ground handling is a huge industry and being selected number one in such a large region was a great honor.

“I would also give credit to the Commonwealth Ports Authority and the other operators at the [local] airport,” he added.

Hudkins said there is an airport   operators committee that continually tries to improve the experience at the airport. The group includes the airport management, Customs, U.S. immigration, the Transportation Security Administration, the airlines, tenants and ground handlers.

PAS has been operating in Saipan since 1991.

“Although we have expanded to Guam and Palau, Saipan is our home,” Hudkins said. “We will continue to strive to be the best and help make Saipan an enjoyable experience for airline passengers.”
