Saipan to host 11th Asian Supermodel Contest

(Press Release) — On Friday and Saturday, the Asian Supermodel Contest will be held on Saipan.

Twenty-seven models representing 14 countries will compete for the most coveted title in a pageant that, since 2006, has produced some of today’s top image, print, fashion, runway and commercial models.

The contest is hosted by Imperial Pacific International while the Marianas Visitors Authority and IT&E are the major sponsors.

Through Imperial Pacific’s efforts, the island is increasingly becoming a popular location for international events.

It was IPI that asked the organizers to hold the contest on Saipan. The organizers found that the island has everything needed for an international modeling competition: a charming tropical climate, captivating and beautiful natural scenery. The organizers said Saipan is a perfect location for an event that features a lot of outdoor activities and photo shoots.

This is the first time that an international modeling competition will be held on Saipan.

On Friday evening, at 10 p.m., the preliminary competition — the Asia Supermodel Dress Show — will be held at Imperial Palace.

The finals will be held Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the grand lobby of Imperial Palace. The crowning of the winners will be followed by a cocktail party/reception.

The 27 contestants are from China, Japan, Korea, the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Hong Kong/China, Taiwan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, India, Thailand, the Philippines and Malaysia.

On finals night, they will compete in four segments/categories: 1) opening number, 2) Hosa swimsuit show, 3) national dress show, and 4) NE-TIGER dress show. Hosa is China’s top swimwear brand while NE-TIGER is China’s top fashion and luxury brand.

The judges will crown the Asia Supermodel, first runner-up, second runner-up and the top 10. In addition, there will be awards for Best T-stage Performance, Best Body, Most Photogenic, Most Potential and International Friendship.
