May SHRM meeting to highlight employment law updates

(Press Release) — Keith Sonderling, acting administrator and deputy administrator of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, will be visiting the region and discussing the agency’s Proposed 541 Salary Rule Change, the Payroll Audit Independent Determination program, and related topics.

Vince Camacho, SHRM Guam’s vice president of legislative affairs and managing principal of the Camacho Calvo Law Group, will provide updates on employment laws and regulations including the American Worker Initiative, issues before the Supreme Court of the United States, free speech in the workplace, and impact of marijuana legislation in the workplace.

The Society for Human Resource Management-NMI chapter invites its members, associated HR and management staff, and interested members of the public to attend its next general membership meeting on Thursday, May 9, 2019, in the Hyatt’s Regency Ballroom.

Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and the meeting will begin promptly at 11 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. This will include an hour break for lunch and networking.

This briefing is open to the public and includes morning refreshments and a Hyatt lunch buffet at the cost of $35 for SHRM/CNMI Bar Association members and $45 for non-members.
