THE Robbery Task
Force of the Guam Police Department arrested 30-year-old Edward Joseph
San Agustin, of Dededo, late yesterday afternoon for his alleged involvement
in several armed game room robberies last month.
GPD public information officer Allan Guzman said San Agustin was also
involved in a theft of a motor vehicle at the Taisho Game Room in Harmon.
San Agustin now faces charges of three counts of robbery, theft of a motor
vehicle, three counts of special allegations of use of a deadly weapon
in the commission of a felony, and three counts of terrorizing.
According to Guzman, San Agustin is the suspect in the Sept. 20 and Sept.
24 armed robberies at the Dededo Pachinko Game Room.
In the Sept. 20 robbery, San Agustin allegedly confronted the security
guard with a gun, ordering him to leave the game room. San Agustin also
allegedly took the guards service radio.
The suspect entered the game room and confronted the cashier demanding
the game rooms money. The cashier did not comply with several demands
made. The masked gunman fired a shot within the establishment and was
able to flee with the game rooms money, Guzman said.
In the Sept. 24 armed robbery of the same establishment, San Agustin allegedly
held up the game room while the security guard was in the restroom. San
Agustin demanded money from the female cashier while brandishing a gun.
No more than 10 minutes after the robbery on that same day, police said
San Agustin went to the Taisho Game Room also to rob it. He also had a
gun which he allegedly discharged in the establishment.
On Saturday, GPD arrested San Agustin and charged him with terrorizing,
family violence, criminal mischief, theft of property, possession of a
firearm without firearms identification, and possession of a firearm without
a firearms registration.
The task force continues its investigation into the many other reported
game room robberies on island.
