Statistics Act passed on final reading at HOD

The Senate Bill that seeks to enact a law requiring the compilation of statistical data for purposes of national development and to facilitate planning had been passed on third and final reading in the House of Delegates during the start of the 12th Regular Session on Oct. 9.
President Remengesau introduced Senate Bill No. 7-26, SD1, HD1 on Feb. 13, 2005.
The Bill seeks to establish a framework for the collection of statistics to provide information required by the national government, state governments and business for the purpose of making policy decisions.
It is also to facilitate a coordinated approach to statistics collection that produces useful information and eliminate duplication of requests for information.
It is seen to encourage the appreciation of economic, social, demographic and other matters of interest to the national and state governments and the public.
