A 7-year-old
boy was injured after he was hit by a vehicle while he was walking near
the exit of Kagman Elementary School.
The boy suffered minor injuries including abrasions on his right fingers,
multiple contusions and abdominal pains as well as swollen right face.
Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro said the boy was already
released from the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Ogumoro said the incident was reported to the authorities on Friday, Oct.
12, and it happened at 2:11 p.m. at Kagman Elementary School.
Preliminary investigation disclosed that a white Toyota Rav4 operated
by Evelyn M. Agulto, 30, was heading west direction near the schools
exit when she felt a sudden impact on her car.
Medics were immediately called and the boy was transported to the Commonwealth
Health Center.
DPS said alcohol and speed were not factors in the incident.
The schools exit has no pedestrian crossing guards or marked pedestrian
crosswalk signs, DPS said.
However, there is a pedestrian crossing sign and marked crosswalk at the
entrance of the school.
The weather condition was clear and the road surface was dry at the time
of the accident, DPS said, which added that investigation is still ongoing.
