THE Chalan Kanoa Saints notched their third win in the 2007 Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League by whipping the G-Stars, 78-60, last Wednesday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
Derrick Nedlic led the Saints’ triumph scoring 23 points, as the bulky center muscled his way in the paint and scored numerous undergoal stabs.
Nedlic drew support from two teammates to improve the Saints record to 3-3. Luizi Reyes drilled 14 markers, while Vince Iglecias added 11.
With Nedlic exploding for 15 first-half points, the Saints took a 10-point lead at halftime, 37-27.
Nedlic slowed down a bit in the second half, but Iglecias and Reyes stepped up to preserve the victory.
Ivan De Vero led the G-Stars’ losing cause nailing 20 markers, while Dan Mateo chipped in 16. The G-Stars absorbed their third loss in seven games.
In last Monday’s game, the San Antonio Sixers snapped their two-game slide with a 92-86 triumph over Rock Steady.
The Duenas connections, Ernest and Matt, delivered for the Sixers 1. Ernest topscored for the Sixers 1 with 24 points, while Ernest chipped in 21. Ian Benavente was the other double -figure scorer for San Antonio with 15 markers.
James Camacho led all scorers with his 39 markers, but it was not enough to save Rock Steady from dropping to a 3-4 record.
In last Friday’s game, the G-Rollers Blue showed no love for sister team, the G-Rollers White, with the former nailing a 90-71 win.
Zach Tudela led G-Blue with 20 points.
