Brushfire hits Capital Hill

By Emmanuel T.Erediano
Variety News Staff

A BRUSHFIRE broke out on a farm near the governor’s office on Capital Hill.
The fire, according to Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro, was reported at 12:51 noon.
Nobody living near the area could say what caused the blaze that occurred a short distance from the farm.
Lt. Jesus Tudela of the fire division’s forestry section, who was among the first to arrive in the area, tried to determined where exactly it started.
But smoke made it hard to pin point the origin of the fire which spread westward because of the windy condition at that time.
Lyn Adauag, 34, a house worker living in the area, said she was awakened by popping sounds outside.
When she went outside, there was smoke all over the area.
Francisco Talas, who also lives nearby, immediately called 911.
There were deer and chickens in nearby cages but the fire didn’t reach them.
No structure was damaged by the fire and it was put out a few hours later.
