A MAN was charged
with possession of a schedule two controlled substance, operating a vehicle
without a valid license, and operating a vehicle without mandatory insurance.
According to a Superior Court magistrate complaint, Edward Aflague Blas,
37, was pulled over by a Guam Police Department officer for expired registration
tags on a 1991 Lexus in Dededo.
The officer that executed the pullover noticed that the insurance on the
vehicle was expired as well.
(The officer) approached the operator (Blas) who stated that he
had borrowed the vehicle from a friend. When asked to produce an operators
license, he was unable to do so, the document reads.
The officer also noticed that Blas appeared to be nervous, was sweating
profusely, and continuously reaching for the vehicles shift
lever.
The officer then asked Blas for identification card. Blas reached into
his shirt pocket and pulled out his wallet. According to the court document,
Blas looked inside the wallet, and turned away from the officer as if
trying to conceal something.
Blas then gave the officer his Guam I.D., properly identifying him. The
officer then questioned Blas if there was anything illegal in the vehicle.
Blas told the officer that there was about $50 worth of crystal methamphetamine
commonly known as ice in his wallet.
Officers confiscated the alleged drug and conducted a field sobriety test
which yielded presumptive for amphetamines.
