A MAN was charged with possession of a schedule two controlled substance, operating a vehicle without a valid license, and operating a vehicle without mandatory insurance.
According to a Superior Court magistrate complaint, Edward Aflague Blas, 37, was pulled over by a Guam Police Department officer for expired registration tags on a 1991 Lexus in Dededo.
The officer that executed the pullover noticed that the insurance on the vehicle was expired as well.
“(The officer) approached the operator (Blas) who stated that he had borrowed the vehicle from a friend. When asked to produce an operator’s license, he was unable to do so,” the document reads.
The officer also noticed that Blas appeared to be nervous, was “sweating profusely,” and continuously reaching for the vehicle’s shift lever.
The officer then asked Blas for identification card. Blas reached into his shirt pocket and pulled out his wallet. According to the court document, Blas looked inside the wallet, and turned away from the officer as if trying to conceal something.
Blas then gave the officer his Guam I.D., properly identifying him. The officer then questioned Blas if there was anything illegal in the vehicle.
Blas told the officer that there was about $50 worth of crystal methamphetamine commonly known as “ice” in his wallet.
Officers confiscated the alleged drug and conducted a field sobriety test which “yielded presumptive for amphetamines.”
