Korean movie celebrities savor Palau’s baseball

By Nazario Rodriguez Jr.

A visiting production crew of a television drama series show from Korea got a taste of local baseball during a friendly game against one of Palau Major League’s young team, Koror Ngarametal, on Sunday at the Asahi Field.
The Koror team, aided by two stalwarts from the Airai Aces, defeated the visitors, 15-1, in an abbreviated game after only five innings of the seventh-inning game.
The Korean tourists requested this friendly game as part of their vacation here.
They said they are not here for any business purposes to promote or to shoot a movie but just for relaxation after recently finishing their drama series entitled "Salt Doll," with one of Korea’s top television company, SBS.
The series will be telecast soon in Korea and even in Japan and other Asian countries.
The leading roles are being played by Kang Sa, Soojung Hwang, Yangho Kim and Yaisuk Kim.
Hyun Jeong Kim, acting head of the group, said that they have already planned this friendly game before they left Korea because they knew that baseball is the leading sport in Palau like in Korea.
Hyun explained however that their players are just avid fans of baseball and some of them play the game for the first time.
"The Palauans are a very strong team and they have good pitching style," Hyun said, who served as the visitors’ pitcher with an awkward, unorthodox style at the mound.
