THE defending champion SAIPANCELL
Patriots toyed around with the As posting a 31-1 victory in the
Majors division of the 2007 Saipan Little League Baseball tournament last
Saturday at the Miguel Tan Ge Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.
The victory was the Patriots seventh in as many games.
Ray Tenorio was the Pats starting pitcher last Saturday and together
with relief pitcher Jared Sablan allowed no hits and gave up seven walks.
Tenorio pitched in the first two innings and had four strikeouts, while
Sablan was on the mound in the last two innings and also had four strikeouts.
Jun David scored the As lone run at the bottom of the fourth on
a shortstop error.
Pats shortstop Jeremy Rabauliman outscored the entire As crew, as
he made four inside-the-park homers. Rabauliman was 5-for-6 at the plate
and had a double.
The defending champions had 12 inside-the-park homers frustrating the
As pitchers Jun David and David Ada all throughout the game.
Pats first baseman Brian Camacho and Tenorio had two inside-the-park homers
apiece. Camacho went 5-for-5 with a single, double, a triple and three
RBIs, while Tenorio was 4-for-5 with two singles and three RBIs.
Third baseman Chris Mizer, leftfielder Jun Rabauliman, centerfielder Lamarc
Iguel and rightfielder Jonathan Camacho had one inside-the-park homer
each.
Iguel was also perfect at the plate going 5-for-5 with two doubles, a
triple, a single and five RBIs.
In other results, the Kautz Glass/ Patriots downed the San Antonio Dragons,
13-9, the Twins topped the Jets, 15-4, and the OlAces II clobbered
the Little Legals, 21-3.
After a slow start scoring only one run in the first inning, the OlAces
II picked up the pace in the second inning.
At the bottom of the second, the OlAces II had seven runs against
the Little Legals one at the top of the second.
The Little Legals never recovered from thereon, as the OlAces II
added 13 more runs at the bottom of the third. The OlAces wrapped
up the match after only three and a half innings, as they held the Little
Legals from scoring a run at the top of the fourth.
TJ Sablan led the OlAces IIs offense going 3-for-4 with three
runs, two doubles, a triple and four RBIs.
In the Juniors division, the Fielders slipped past the Hustlers, 6-5.
Tom Agulto went 2-for-4 for the Fielders and had two runs, two doubles
and two RBIs.
The Fielders shut out the Hustlers in the first three innings and withstood
the latters rally in the last four innings to escape with a one-point
win.
