THE Department of Public Safety
and the Commonwealth Ports Authority conducted a mass apprehension operation
on Friday resulting in the arrest of 12 individuals for various offenses.
These included four suspects in the armed robbery at Smile Poker in Chalan
Kanoa on March 27.
The suspects are Fernando Quitano, Christopher Lee Muna, Martin Pangelinan
Cepeda and Joseph Celis San Nicolas.
Quitano, Muna, Cepeda and San Nicolas were arrested on March 30 and 31
in Chalan Kanoa and Susupe for robbery, aggravated, assault and battery
and assault with a dangerous weapon.
The four were responsible for the robbery of Smile Poker and for assaulting
the security guard, Fam Li, police said.
The suspects were armed with a knife and a baseball bat when they robbed
the poker establishment of $5,567.
The four suspects were brought to Superior Court for a bail hearing yesterday
afternoon before Associate Judge David A. Wiseman.
The other suspects arrested on Friday were Meliza Aldan Deleon Guerrero,
John Benjamin John, Dennis Ngeskebei, Kevin Mendoza Piol, Christopher
Litulumar Kaipat, Denmar Malabanan, Barbie Ann Babauta Borja and Raymond
Duenas.
With the exception of Meliza Aldan Deleon Guerrero, they were also brought
to Superior Court for a bail hearing yesterday afternoon.
Meliza Aldan Deleon Guerrero was brought for a bail hearing on Friday
and she was released from the custody of the Department of Corrections
after posting bail.
Deleon Guerrero and Borja were arrested for theft and conspiracy while
John was arrested for robbery.
Ngeskebie was arrested for theft; Piol for theft and criminal mischief;
Kaipat for assault and battery, criminal trespass and disturbing the peace;
Malabanan for theft, robbery and assault and battery; and Duenas was arrested
for theft.
