Man in critical condition after he was struck by vehicle

THE Guam Police Department’s Highway Patrol investigators are looking into an auto-pedestrian accident that took place a little after 12 noon yesterday at the L.P. Gas parking lot on Y’Pao Road in Tamuning.
GPD Sgt. John Bagiforo told Variety that investigators were activated at 12:15 p.m. yesterday to the scene of the accident.
“When we arrived, the victim was already transported to the Guam Memorial Hospital. As far as we know as of 5 p.m. Monday, the elderly man remains in critical condition at the hospital,” Bagiforo said.
According to GMH nursing supervisor on duty Cely Mangrobang, the unidentified victim was undergoing a CAT scan and X-ray as of press time; therefore his condition was not fully known.
Bagiforo said the operator of the vehicle, “for unknown reasons, reversed out of the parking stall” and struck the victim. The operator, in the process of moving the vehicle forward, struck a parked vehicle.
“We interviewed the witnesses and the operator of the vehicle. The pool of blood found at the scene of the accident is consistent with what they stated,” said Bagiforo.
No citations have been issued and no arrests have been made. This case remains under investigation by GPD’s Highway Patrol investigators.
