Global warming and Al Gore

I APPRECIATED very much the letter published in the March 23 issue titled “Global Warming or Global Hoax?” Some U.S. politicians are gaining wealth and power by making alarmist statements about global warming while they are not interested in doing anything about it themselves.
I will give you an example. when I returned to visit friends on Saipan in May 2006, I discovered that the diesel electric generators were in need of expensive repair and fuel costs were rising. I therefore called the office of Al Gore and proposed he help CNMI convert to wind energy since the wind blows all the time on Saipan. I said that the CNMI is a U.S. commonwealth, and if wind energy were a success, other islands might do the same thing.
I expected that Al Gore would be very interested since he constantly preaches that we should change from fossil fuel to renewable sources of energy. I was amazed that his office had no interest in my proposal. You can write a letter they said but Al Gore is too busy with his movie and promoting his book. I wrote a letter which they lost so I wrote a second one. I never heard that they read either letter and after trying to interest them over the telephone, I finally gave up.
I contacted the Al Gore office in Nashville, Tenn. again in September and finally in February of 2007. Al Gore still has no time to help the good people of the CNMI but has time to increase his fame by lecturing and hobnobbing with Hollywood and British royalty.
In my opinion the primary problem is not warming of the earth’s atmosphere but rather that Al Gore is a hypocrite who is full of hot air himself. He would help the climate if he stopped talking so much.
