AN 18-year-old man landed
in jail for assaulting a security guard at a poker establishment in Garapan.
Christopher Kaipat was brought for a bail hearing on Monday afternoon
before Associate Judge David A. Wiseman.
Kaipat was arrested for disturbing the peace, criminal trespass and assault
and battery.
The affidavit of Sgt. Thomas Blas Jr. stated that on March 1, a disturbance
at the Dollar Poker in Garapan was reported to the police.
The affidavit stated that Lorenzo Lariza, a security guard at the establishment,
was cleaning in the parking lot, when Kaipat came along and interrupted
him.
According to the affidavit, Kaipat was drunk.
Kaipat was trying to provoke a fight with the victim. He told the victim
that he would go inside to get a drink of water.
The guard told the defendant that he could not go inside because he was
a minor, but the defendant ignored the warning and entered the poker establishment
anyway.
The victim followed and waited for the defendant as he drank some water.
When the guard told the defendant to leave, Kaipat refused and begun shouting
and pushing the victim.
The victim told the cashier to call the police.
The guard pushed back the defendant who began punching and kicking him.
Kaipat then left the establishment on his bike before the arrival of the
police.
The affidavit stated that the defendant and victim were friends.
