THE Guam Environmental Protection Agency and its partners have opened the nominations for the 2007 Environmental Stewardship Awards.
GEPA and the Environmental Education Subcommittee of the Guam Watershed Planning Committee ask residents to submit their nominations by Friday, April 5.
The stewardship program recognizes residents, community groups, and businesses that have had “significant contributions to protecting and improving Guam’s environment” within the past year, GEPA said in a statement.
“This program gives us a chance to say ‘Thank you’ to all those who go the extra step to improve our environment,” said Lorliee T. Cristosomo, GEPA administrator. “We all need to follow their example to ensure future generations on Guam have a clean and healthy island to call their own.”
Anyone of any age can be nominated for this award. The environmental stewards include companies that have implemented recycling programs and student groups that spend their weekends cleaning up beaches, the release stated.
Those interested in nominating an individual or a group can visit GEPA’s office in Tiyan or download the application form on the GEPA Web site at www.guamepa.net/earthweek.
Forms can either be dropped off at the GEPA office or faxed to Peggy Denney at (671) 477-9402 or scanned and e-mailed to Peggy.Denney@guamepa.net.
