ORGANIZERS of the 2007 Saipan Little League Baseball tournament cancelled yesterday’s game in the Big League and will hold games only this Saturday, while tonight’s match in the 2007 Budweiser Saipan Major League baseball will go ahead as scheduled if the weather improves.
The rain brought by Typhoon Kong-Rey forced SLLB officials to call off the UMDA Aztecs-Northern Angels tiff in the Big League division at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.
SLLB president Joe Salas announced that they will be holding games only this Saturday in observance of Holy Friday and Easter Sunday.
This Saturday, the Hustlers will meet the Aztecs in the Big League at 12 noon, while the Fielders and the Pirates will collide at 9 a.m. in the Seniors division.
Four games are set for the Majors. These are the Chalan Kanoa Bears vs the Mobil Kagman Aztecs in the first match, San Vicente A’s vs PTI Jets, San Antonio Dragons vs Ol’Aces II and the Little Legals vs McDonalds.
In the SML, the Masters are set to duel the defending champion Bud Kings at 6:30 p.m.
SML coordinator Tony Rogolifoi said, tonight’s game will depend on the weather.
“If the rain stops and the field is okay, we will play tonight. But on Friday, there will be no games,” Rogolifoi said.
