A 28-year-old man who tried
to hang himself when his girlfriend wanted to break up with him has been
arrested for disturbing the peace.
Vincent David Cabrera Jr., was brought to Superior Court for a bail hearing
on Tuesday afternoon.
Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo imposed no bail and referred the defendant
for a competency evaluation.
The judge ordered the Department of Corrections to transport Cabrera to
the Community Guidance Center.
The affidavit of Detective Andrea Ozawa stated that Cabrera was arrested
for disturbing the peace of his girlfriend and her family.
According to the affidavit, on April 2, at 1:58 p.m., a domestic incident
at the victims house in Koblerville was reported to the police.
The defendant and his girlfriend had an argument on Sunday night.
Cabrera, the affidavit stated, threatened to beat up his girlfriend when
she told him that she was going to break up with him.
Cabrera went to the victims residence on the following day, and
told her younger sister that he was going to beat up the victim.
Later that day, the younger sister found Cabrera in their bathroom with
an electrical line tied around his neck.
Cabrera was arrested for disturbing the peace and placed under close observation
while in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
