Budweiser Baseball League continues today

By Kyle Terwilliger
Variety News Staff

THE Guam Baseball Federation is out and the Parks and Recreation is in. After a week long delay the Budweiser Baseball League is scheduled to restart today. The first game on the list will be the battle between the two first place teams going into the break.
The 4-1 Guam Greyhounds will take on the 4-1 Bank of Guam Athletics in a match up to see who will be first in the standings. The winner will move into sole place of first, whereas the loser will fall to 4-2 putting them into a four way tie for second place between the Guam Shipyard Cougars, AK Islanders and the Pepsi Giants who all sit on a 4-2 record. The game is set to kick off at 7:00 pm tonight.
The match up will pit two very good head coaches against each other with the Athletics’ Todd Gillan going head to head against the Greyhound’s Al Tsutsui. Tsutsui’s Greyhounds bring one of the best offenses in the League against the exceptional pitching of the Athletics.
The Athletics are expected to showcase Carlos Quinata who in his last outing pitched a 1 hitter in a win over the Kosrae Speedos. This is a rematch of the season opener in which the Greyhounds beat the Athletics. Now the Athletics will look to not only take first place in the standings but also have revenge for their first and only loss of the season.
Tomorrow will give the Pepsi Giants a chance to take a half game lead for the second spot in the rankings when they take on the 1-6 Palau Stingers. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm at the Paseo baseball stadium. Sunday will wrap up the weekends games when the Athletics are in action again taking on the 4-2 Guam Shipyard Cougars.
