The Rotary Club of Palau is
gearing up for a busy month of April, which is the Awareness Month for
Rotary International.
RCP President Risong Tarkong mentioned several activities that they are
doing to continue their goal of helping improve life in the community
such as visit to schools, sponsor alcohol free awareness, radio programming,
donation of books and other vocational activities for the youth.
Rotary International has current membership worldwide of 1.2 million.
It is the first private international organization to initiate the eradication
of polio with a budget of $500 million.
In Palau, Tarkong said that RCPs objectives are to lead the way
for fostering community service, helping to improve water quality systems
and helping the community in health related programs.
Meanwhile, the RCP will be having its new set of officers in May. They
are Wayne Santos (President), Augusta Rengiil (Vice President), Keith
Peterson (Secretary) and Hobbs Lowson (Treasurer).
RCP has 24 active members including Omar Basilius, Richard Brungard, John
De Vivo, Haruo Esang, Greg Gordon, Yuriko Cho Irekadamoto, Paul Kjeldsen,
Frank Kyota, Hobbs Lowson, Chengeina Masang, Marvin Ngirutang, Mike Ongalibang,
Caleb Otto, Maria Rechucher, Augusta Rengiil, Christina Salii, Kathleen
Salii, Wayne Santos, Thomas Schubert, Risong Tarkong, Kaleb Udui Jr.,
Joy Whipps and Keith Peterson.
The latest addition is Belau National Hospital Chief of Ancillary Services
David Rykken, who took his oath in the Rotays last regular meeting
on Wednesday March 28 at the Penthouse.
