ACTION in the Korean Football Association of Saipan’s 2007 President’s Cup will resume this Sunday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
Only four games were completed in the annual tournament on March 18, as matches were suspended due to haze caused by the Anatahan volcano and from fires across Southeast Asia.
This Sunday, the first match will have Real Mariana facing Tinian Dynasty at 12 noon, while Korea A will be meeting Onwell in the last game in the elimination round.
The top two placers in the tournament will square off for the championship, while the third and fourth finishers after the elimination round will battle for the third place trophy.
So far, Real Mariana and the Fiesta Inter/Independents have one win apiece.
Real Mariana won over L&S/Alliance, 2-1, while Fiesta Inter/Independents defeated Korean A, 4-2.
Dong Seuk Kim and Min Kyu Han scored a goal apiece in Real Mariana’s win, while Kwang Sik Kim nailed one goal for L&S/Alliance.
Tinian Dynasty also played on March 18, but was forced to a 1-1 draw by L&S/Alliance. The Onwell- Fiesta Inter/Independents tiff also ended in a 1-1 draw.
Games in the President’s Cup are played in two halves, with each half lasting for 30 minutes. A 10-minute break is implemented.
At the end of the tournament, KFAS will give awards to the Most Valuable Player, Best Defender and Best Goalie. They will also award a sportsmanship trophy and recognize the player who scores the most goals.
A trophy and $200 cash await the champion team, while second and third placers will be receiving $150 and $100 in cash, respectively.
