Navy to have partial water shutdown

By Gerardo R. Partido
Variety News Staff

THE Navy will have a partial water shutdown today and on Wednesday to ensure the safety of divers performing underwater construction at the Fena reservoir.
The partial plant shutdowns were previously planned for last week but had to be postponed due to Typhoon Kong-Rey.
But by carefully managing water inventory and by maintaining partial production from springs, the Navy assured customers that it would be able to continue providing full water service to all.
Normal flow to the Guam Waterworks Authority will be maintained during the outages, the Navy’s public affairs office stressed.
Water from the Navy’s reservoir tanks will continue to supply Guam’s electrical plants at Cabras, Piti and Tanguisson, the firefighting systems, and U.S. Naval Hospital Guam.
According to the Navy, the shutdowns were planned one day apart to allow for sufficient recovery of stored water and to minimize the inconvenience to customers.
