THE 33-YEAR-old man pulled from the waters off of Y’pao Beach on Thursday afternoon died Friday at 3:05 a.m., according to Guam Memorial Hospital nursing supervisor Bill Toves.
This marks the fourth death from drowning on Guam this year.
The man’s name was not released as of press time.
The man was in the water with his brother-in-law when employees of a diving company spotted him having trouble in the water a little after 1 p.m. on Thursday.
The man was taken to shore where two Department of Parks and Recreation beach employees began a two-man CPR on him until medical personnel arrived. He was then transported to GMH via the Navy’s Mercy Medic with CPR en route.
The man, originally from the outer islands of Micronesia, remained on life support during his stay at GMH’s intensive care unit.
