Senator Daniel K. Inouye of Hawaii has assured his support for Palaus
concerns on its eligibility for Airport Improvement Projects.
In his communication letter dated March 9, two days before the unexpected
passing away of Senate President Johnny Reklai, Inouye thanked the lates
Senators earlier letter regarding the Commerce, Science and Transportation
Senate Committees consideration of the Federal Aviation Administrations
(FAA) reauthorization.
Inouye, who is chairman of that committee, extended his appreciation upon
learning the the late Reklais concerns regarding Palus continued
eligibility to receive grant funds through the AIP.
Inouye said that his committee expects to consider reauthrization legislation
for the FA during the 110th Congress.
"I will be working with my colleagues on the Committee to craft legislation
that will adequately address the concerns of all parties involved. I look
forward to working with you to examine the feasibility for the Republic
of Palau to remain eligible for AIP grants in the FAA reauthorization,"
Inouye noted.
