Wife charged with assaulting husband’s ex-girlfriend

THE Guam Police Department Officers arrested and charged a 44-year old woman and her 15-year old daughter for allegedly trying to harm their husband/father’s girlfriend on Friday at 5:31 p.m.
GPD public information officer Allan Guzman told Variety that police responded to a report of a riot at a parking lot of a chiropractor’s office.
Arrested in this case was Sophia Karaman Harper she was charged by police with family violence, harassment, aggravated assault, and terrorizing. She was booked and confined. Harper’s 15-year old daughter was also charged and released to the custody of the Department of Youth Affairs.
According to the Superior Court magistrate complaint on this case, the event took place at the parking lot of Miller’s Chiropractic building near the Iglesia Ni Cristo Church on Route 16 in Harmon.
When police arrived at the scene a woman told them that while in the parking lot with her ex-boyfriend, Harper’s husband, Sophia showed up and approached him. Harper began yelling at him in "Chuukese."
When all of this was taking place the 15-year old minor was seen using a black baton to damage her father’s vehicle and to have attacked her father’s ex-girlfriend with the baton as well.
Court documents also state that Harper went back to her vehicle to get a "kitchen knife." When she returned she grabbed her husband’s ex-girlfriend by the hair, holding the knife in her other hand, and screamed at her "you want me to use this knife on you."
Harper’s husband intervened and separated the two. Harper remains behind bars.
Police search for robber
Guam Police officers are looking for a suspect alleged to have robbed the Lucky Spring Store in Tamuning on Friday at 9:50 p.m. of an undisclosed amount of money.
According to Guzman, the suspect entered the facility and threatened the 34-year old cashier with the knife. The woman had her minor daughter in the store with her at the time of the robbery.
The suspect is described as standing 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-9-inches tall, weighing about 180 to 190-pounds. He was last seen wearing a green jungle hat with blue jeans, and a black t-shirt when he fled the scene on foot.
Police nab burglar
Officers arrested and charged Karson Ruda, 23, of Tamuning with burglary, criminal mischief, and terrorizing, after he allegedly broke into a home with the intentions to burglarize it.
According to Guzman, Ruda did this while the family was still in the apartment. The burglary took place at the Cruz Apartments in MongMong.
Woman arrested for bad checks
Yesterday at 12 a.m. police arrested Valerie Pangelinan Santos, 28, of Tamuning for allegedly writing bad checks at the Dededeo Payless.
Guzman told Variety, that there may be more cases against Santos with relation to writing bad checks. The checks Santos allegedly wrote were for "large amounts," according to Guzman.
