GOP secretary defends party’s leadership

By Emmanuel T. Erediano

THE NMI Republican Party’s secretary reminded his party mates in Precinct 4 yesterday of last year’s suspension of the bylaws that paved the way for the election of the GOP’s new officers.
Kimo M. Rosario, in a telephone interview yesterday, said the election of the party president, vice presidents, secretary and treasurer during the general meeting in December did not violate the bylaws because there were no bylaws at that time.
Rosario said the bylaws were suspended to allow former Republicans to return to the party.
The GOP board was then formed following the election of the new officers.
Luis Q. Kapileo, the leader of the Precinct 4 club whose existence is not recognized by the GOP’s leadership, is questioning the legitimacy of the party’s board which has already reorganized precinct clubs.
Rosario said the party will continue to move forward and “is getting stronger than ever.”
Kapileo, in a separate interview, agreed, adding that he and his group remain loyal to the party.
