A MAN who earlier
pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute
methamphetamine has been sentenced to almost five years imprisonment.
Steve Kim was given credit for his 21 days of incarceration in a Guam
detention facility but the District Court of Guam ordered his incarceration
at a California facility.
District Court of Guam Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood also placed
Kim on supervised release for a term of five years and under conditions
that he not possess a firearm and should cooperate in DNA testing.
The court also ordered Kim to participate in vocational and educational
programs.
Kim was also sentenced to perform 200 hours of community service under
the direction of the U.S. Probation Office.
Kim was arrested a month after he was indicted on Oct. 27, 2004.
He entered a plea agreement in November 2004.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Frederick Black recommended for an additional
one level reduction of sentence due to Kims early entry of guilty
plea.
In February, Black recommended 57 months of imprisonment for Kim after
acknowledging Kims substantial assistance in drug trafficking investigations
in Guam.
