Women’s caging meeting Friday

BASKETBALL Association of Northern Mariana Islands official Elias Rangamar is calling on interested individuals to attend an organization meeting for women’s basketball.
The meeting will be held this Friday at 5 p.m. in Gilbert C. Ada Gym’s conference room.
The meeting aims to form a women’s basketball association. The meeting will also discuss women’s leagues, basketball clinics and two upcoming regional tournaments.
This November, BANMI will be fielding a 19-and-under team in the Micronesian Basketball Tournament on Guam this November and an Open squad in the MBT Open in Pohnpei next year.
Volunteers, players and coaches are encouraged to attend the meeting.

BANMI referees meeting tomorrow

BASKETBALL Association of Northern Marianas Islands board member Rufino Aguon is inviting referees to attend meeting a meeting tomorrow for the formation of a referees association.
Aguon said BANMI plans to form a referees association to organize and provide the best and professional basketball referees on island.
“This will also help our basketball programs and improve the level of play for both youth and adults,” Aguon added.
The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at the Northern Marianas College Gym.
“All current BANMI/FIBA certified referees are encouraged to attend this organizational meeting,” Aguon added.

BASA Open League meeting today

BELAU Amateur Softball Association president Brian Adelbai is calling on coaches or team managers of teams which will be participating in the 2007 Budweiser/BASA Island-Wide Men’s Softball League to attend a meeting today.
The mandatory meeting is set for 6 p.m. at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
BASA is hoping to kick off the Open tournament on April 15 at the Dandan ballfield.
The Survivors won last year’s championship beating 15 other teams.

Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja golf fundraiser June 30

THE Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja of Rota will be holding a golf fundraising tournament on June 30 on the west course of the LaoLao Bay Golf Resort.
Proceeds from the tournament will be used for operating expenses of the Songsong-based school.
The entrance fee is $120. The tee-off time is set for 7:30 a.m, while the check-in time is at 6 a.m. The tournament format is double peoria.

Jam Attack set for April 20-22

THE Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association is still accepting entries for the 2007 Jam Attack indoor volleyball tournament.
The annual tournament will be held at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym from April 20 to 22.
The three-day tournament will have competitions in the men’s and women’s divisions.
The entrance fee is $150 per team.
