Fabulous Everyday: Boarderline

By Bernard Rivera
MV Teen Reporter

This week’s Fabulous Everyday takes a closer look at what one of the islands’ newest sportswear stores offers teenagers.
Boarderline is one of the few stores that have a large selection of sportswear and stylish outfits for skaters and surfers, or for those who love the sun and surf as much as they do.
Managed by Shirley T. Sablan, Boarderline just opened last December and is already attracting a good crowd of teen shoppers.
“We pride ourselves as being the best surf and skate shop on Saipan and envision Boarderline to continue to grow in its industry within the CNMI. The ‘Board’ in Boarderline signifies the broads surfers and skateboarders use and both live on the edge or on the ‘boarder’ each time they do what they do best,” said Sablan.
“We have a big One Day Sale this Saturday, April 14 and we carry brands including Etnies, RipCurl, DC Shoes, Bolle, Globe, Ocean & Earth, and will soon be carrying Fox, Dragon Optical, Smith Optical, Oakley and Element,” she said.
Located at the Hafa Adai Shopping Center in Garapan, Boarderline, open daily from 10am to 10pm, has exclusive rights to all of its brands, except Nike and Scott Hawaii.
This week’s Fabulous Everyday models are Ares Rivera, Peter Passi, and Ariel St. Clair.
BOARDERLINE
This is the island of Beach Girls and Boys. With sand between your toes, and the ocean’s salty, crisp taste in the air; the beach a sanctuary for many. Boarderline’s beachwear line takes you to the shore no matter where you are.
Ares Rivera, an AP student at Marianas High School displays a white-laced Lost top along with dark green Honey shorty shorts with a design of polka dot hearts.
Rivera completes the outfit with golden metallic flip-flops perfect for the beach on a Sunday afternoon, along with a boogie board.
Ares also brings in the sunshine with a Lost beige summer dress with a Rip Curl biggy bronze bag and bronzed flip-flops.
Peter Passi, an employee of Boarderline, models for MV Teen. His first outfit is Boarderline’s own designed red, white, and black T-shirt along with a Rip Curl Hydro-Phonic Border shorts and an Amigaz square shell-cut necklace. To finish the beach boy look, the outfit is combined with Ocean and Earth’s Volt Print slipper.
The fashion of skaters and surfers has become popular in today’s society. Peter also wears a Rip Curl Templar “Sand” Polo along with a Rip Curl Totness Walk Shorts Army Style, along with a Reef Phantoms green camouflage flip-flops with an Ocean and Earth’s Men at Ease white cap.
A student of Marianas Baptist Academy, 14-year-old model Ariel St. Clair displays character and individuality with Boarderline’s punk side with a NRG’s black striped jacket, NRG faded green denim shorty shorts, and Rip Curl black and white rock n’ roll T-shirt, along with a hunting style black cap and DC black and pink skater shoes.
Ariel then poses at the beach side with Boarderline’s NRG Capri plain knee length pants, a Lost blouse with a flower black and white striped design, and with a finishing touch of a Rip Curl white purse.
