Power fluctuations cause water outages

NORMAL water service to areas along Route 8 in Barrigada should be restored by tomorrow afternoon, according to Guam Waterworks Authority spokesperson Heidi Ballendorf.
The areas affected include the area adjacent to Barrigada Heights to the Days Inn in Barrigada, and parts of MongMong-Toto-Maite, the Hyundai area, and parts of Dairy Road in Mangilao.
There are several reasons for the outages, and the little to no water pressure in these areas.
“The M-3 series well located in Latte Heights and the A-18 series well located across from the Department of Agriculture in Mangilao both tripped Tuesday night due to power fluctuations,” GWA said in a statement.
The power situation in that area, according to Ballendorf, is a regular occurrence in the past few days.
The pumps are being replaced. Additionally, the area near P.C. Lujan Elementary School will be without water today at 5 p.m. and water service will not be restored until 12 p.m. Friday.
Water tankers are available to affected customers. They are located at the Barrigada Mayor’s Office, P.C. Lujan Elementary School, and Manglona Market in MongMong.
