Two United States military officers will be in Palau on April 12 to brief the Palau leaders on the transfer of military troops from Okinawa, Japan to Guam.
President Remengsau said that Capt. Kenneth Branch, Commander of Naval Facilities Engineering Command and Col. Robert Fant of the United States Air Force will conduct the briefing.
The two officers will fly to Palau in place of Rear Admiral Charles Leidig , Commander of the U.S. Naval Forces in Marianas to discuss the impacts of troop increases in the region.
Earlier President Remengesau invited Leidig to come to Palau for the discussion, the admiral however in his letter to the president said that he accept the invitation because of prior commitments.
Remengesau also asked Leidig to visit Palau anew in time for the turnover ceremony of the Air Force Civic Action Team on April 13 to a Navy team.
Remengesau for the first will grace the turnover ceremony with Capt, Branch and Col. Fant speaking in the change of command too.
