THE 2007 season of the NYBA
16-and-under Basketball League is tentatively set to start on Monday at
the Garapan basketball court with 19 teams competing in four divisions.
The Kagman Explosives and the Garapan Rollers are entered in the co-ed
12-and-under division.
The girls 16-and-under division will have the G-Rollers, Chacha
Junior High School and the Kagman Explosive.
Battling for the boys 14-and-under division crown are the Kagman
Explosives, the G-Rollers 1 and 2, the Sixers 1 and 2, Chacha and the
Sonics.
The boys 16-and-under age group also has seven teams, namely, the
G-Rollers 1 and 2, the As Lito Celtics, the Sixers, the Sonics, the G-Stars
and the Kagman Explosives.
We are hoping to start the league on Monday. If the lights are okay,
we will hold the opening games on Monday, NYBA developmental officer
Joe Diaz said.
If the lights are not fixed by Monday, we will open on April 20,he
added.
The 12-and-under and girls 16-and-under divisions will have a double-elimination
format in the regular season, while the two other age groups will follow
a single-elimination format.
Formats in the playoffs have yet to be discussed.
On Monday, three Kagman Explosives teams will be debuting. They will face
the G-Rollers in the 12-and-under division at 5 p.m. The second match
at 6 p.m. will also feature the Explosives against G-Rollers in the girls
14-and-under division. The G-Stars will take on the Explosives in the
boys 16-and-under.
Games in the youth caging will be played every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Makeup games are set for Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, coaches are requested to attend a final meeting this Saturday
at 6:30 p.m. at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
Diaz has also announced that they are still accepting sponsorships for
the youth league.
