Korytoskis last days on Saipan will be spent on conducting clinics
for coaches and youth strikers.
Korytoski, who is tentatively set to return to the mainland on April 19,
and the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association will be holding
clinics for three days.
Tonight from 7 to 9 p.m., the NMI coach will be conducting the first part
of a two-part coaching clinic at Fiesta Resort and Spa. It is open to
youth and adult league coaches with NMIFA encouraging those without experience
in coaching to attend the clinic.
The program will consist of a two-hour interactive class followed
by a hands-on skill development phase on Sunday afternoon at American
Memorial Park beginning at 3 p.m., NMIFA secretary general Peter
Coleman said in an email.
On Sunday, after the continuation of the Thursday evening clinic,
Korytoski will be holding a two-hour hands on clinic for the youth at
the AMP Field from 4 to 6 p.m.
This youth clinic is a continuation of the previous seminar held as part
of a fundraising activity for the NMI mens and womens National
Teams.
The turnout for the original youth clinic/fundraiser was less than
what was originally expected because of inclement weather. To thank all
the sponsors that helped our national teams, the NMIFA will be hosting
this youth clinic for boys and girls age 5-16, Coleman said.
The clinic is free, but participants are required to register at 3:30
p.m. They are also required to wear proper gears.
On April 16 and 17, Korytoski will also visit various public elementary
schools to conduct clinics.
This will be done in keeping with the spirit of the local community
individuals and businesses that contributed to the original clinic and
sponsored public school children and schools in our previous tournaments.
Students at the sponsored schools will be contacted by the administrations
of their respective schools. We hope to continue this practice in the
future to bring the sport into the school systems and to assist in developing
an already growing desire to participate on behalf of the enrolled students,
Coleman said.
Before Korytoski leaves, NMIFA will be hosting a party for him.
Korytoski is only on loan from Wright State University (Ohio) where he
is an assistant coach. He arrived on the island in February to prepare
the NMI men and womens National Teams for their games against
Guam.
