Hustlers, Falcons sluggers top pitchers, batters in Big, Senior Leagues

THE Hustlers sluggers are leading in the batting and pitching categories in the Big League, while the Falcons bets are on top in the Seniors division of the 2007 Saipan Little League Baseball tournament.
The Hustlers’ Nunu Kapileo was 13-for-17 after April 1 game for a .765 batting average in the Big League.
Teammate Vincent Sablan is in second place going 6-for-18 for a .750 batting average.
Completing the top five are the Fielders’ Shane Yamada (10-for-15) and Joe Kim (8-for-15) and the Aztecs’ Smith Regis (8-for-15).
Making it to the top 10 are the Hustlers’ Martin Pangelinan the Fielders’ Shane Mendiola, Bill Fleming and Cadez Tenorio, the Hustlers’ Joel Satur, the Fielders’ Jesse Borja and Daryl Brennan, the Angels’ James Ulloa and the Hustlers’ Lyle Celis.
Batting leaders were determined based on 15 or more times at bat
Yamada leads the league in runs with 10, followed by Cadez Tenorio and Fleming with nine apiece and Borja, Mendiola and Kim with eight each.
Bill Techur has the most doubles so far with four, while Brennan has three.
Mendiola and Pangelinan have three triples each, while four players have one apiece.
Six players have earned one homer each with Jesus Iguel leading the list. Also making one homer were Mendiola, Yamada, Pangelinan, Satur and D. Pua.
Brennan, Mendiola and Kapileo have eight RBIs each, while Pangelinan has seven.
The Hustlers’ John Mafnas leads the league in pitching with a 01.56 ERA. In four games and 18 innings, only four runs were credited against him.
The Aztecs’ Nicolas San Nicolas has the most strikeouts with 32, while Brandon Santos has 25. Yamada and Mendiola have 16 strikeouts each.
Pitching leaders were selected based on 13 or more innings.
In the Senior League, the Falcons’ Vicente Cabrera and Techur Marley are topping the batting and pitching categories, respectively.
As of April 1, Cabrera was 8-for-12 for a .667 batting average.
The Jets’ Jonathan Salas is in second place going 8-for-15, followed by the Hustlers’ Philip Manalo and John Pangelinan, the Falcons’ Ryan Aldan, the Jets’ Nathan Kintol, the Hustlers’ Anthony Aldan, the Jets’ Donovan George and Juan Iguel and the Falcons’ Jerro Jones, Ignacio Aldan and Juan Tenorio.
Anthony Salas, Juan Igule and Ioanis Rasa have the most runs with seven each.
Cabrera and Derek Nedlic are leading in doubles with three apiece, while Jonathan Salas has the most triples with three.
Cabrera has two homers and Jonathan Salas has the most runs with nine.
Marley has a .90 ERA, as he allowed only eight hits with two runs in 15.2 innings and four games.
The Falcons’ pitcher also has the most strikeouts with 27, followed by Anthony Tenorio (16) and Anthony Dela Cruz and Philip Manalo with 10 apiece.
