THE Department of Public Safety is seeking the help of the community to solve a homicide case involving a Commonwealth Health Center employee that happened 11 years ago.
DPS, through the Criminal Investigation Bureau’s Special Homicide Activity Resolution Partnership and Violent Crimes Unit, is trying to solve the brutal killing of Manuel Camacho Arriola, a CHC community sanitation service employee.
Crime Stoppers Coordinator PO1 Anthony Diaz said anyone with information about this homicide can call CIB at 664-9043, -9039, -9050 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272.
Diaz said a reward of up to $1,000 will be given for any information leading to the arrest of the responsible person.
Arriola also known as Manny, was 46 years old when he was killed on Sept. 3, 1995.
DPS stated that on Sept. 3, 1995, at 10:53 p.m., police received a report about a shooting incident in the Agag-1 Denni area in Saipan.
Arriola died of multiple gunshot wounds to the leg.
He was last seen at the residence of Manuel Santos Aguon also known as Kosai at around 8:30 .pm.
The victim was later seen driving his assigned government vehicle away from Kosai’s house at high speed.
At 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 3, 1995, Arriola’s vehicle was found parked at the water pump station in the Agag-Denni area.
Arriola was shot but managed to escape and left a trail of blood to a nearby residence where he sought assistance.
Police were notified and Arriola was rushed to CHC for treatment. He later died as a result of his wounds.
Investigators believe that the case was drug-related.
PO1 Diaz said Arriola’s case is this week’s crime of the week.
Diaz said they will be featuring more unsolved crimes and will ask for the public’s assistance to help solve these cases.
