THE missing 8-year-old Yigo boy was found right before dawn Thursday after a member of the search party noticed an antenna of an abandoned vehicle moving.
Guam Police Department’s Capt. Paul Suba said the boy was locked in the trunk of the abandoned vehicle.
The family of Tristan Palacios grew concerned when he didn’t come home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. GPD public information officer Allan Guzman said the family searched for him in the neighborhood until 11 p.m. when they contacted GPD.
GPD Patrol, SWAT, Guam Fire Department Rescue personnel, and concerned family members and citizens searched the area near the boy’s home into the early morning hours of Thursday. An Amber Alert was issued in the midst of the search.
Family members’ concern grew because the boy has epilepsy and did not take his medication that day.
“Officers had to pry open the trunk of the vehicle. When they opened it, Tristan was inside. The medical personnel checked him out and he seemed fine. Family members were advised though to take him to a clinic for further evaluation,” said Suba.
Suba also told Variety that GPD Lt. Kim Santos of the Criminal Investigation Section contacted I Fa’magonta at the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse to see if the boy was affected by the drama of the event.
