Murder case hearing in May

By Gina Tabonares
Variety News Staff

ORAL arguments whether murder suspect Mark Angoco’s defense attorney should be disqualified will continue on the last week of May.
Angoco is facing a murder charge in connection with the death of Darwin Datuin in 1994.
The case is set for retrial after the defense brought an appeal before the Supreme Court questioning the December 2005 decision of Superior Court Judge Katherine Maraman in granting the motion of the Attorney General’s Office disqualifying Atty. David Lujan from the murder trial.
Government prosecutor asked for the disqualification of Lujan, citing a conflict of interest with the attorney’s firm representation of both Angoco and a primary witness, Ricky McIntosh.
Lujan’s law firm, Lujan, Aguigui & Perez LLP, represents McIntosh in four pending criminal cases in the trial court.
The AGO argued that McIntosh will be called as a witness in the retrial and will be questioned extensively regarding hi conversations and actions which occurred in 1994 involving his and Angoco’s involvement in the death of Datuin.
