MCV donates 200 stuffed bears

MARIANAS Cable Vision yesterday donated 200 stuffed bears to the Guam Police Department and the Guam Fire Department to help children recover from traumatic experiences.
GPD and GFD personnel will then give the stuffed bears to children who are victims of traffic accidents, abuses, injuries or deaths in the family to help reduce the psychological trauma they experience in such situations, according to MCV.
“This project is not meant to replace the professional therapy a child may require when involved in a traumatic incident, but is a great first step in the process. It tells the child that someone cares and offers companionship support in the form of a cute and soft MCV Care Bear,” said Tom Higa, vice president of marketing for MCV Broadband.
“The bears will be offered to children under 11 years of age with the written consent of the child’s parent or guardian.”
A total of 200 bears will be distributed on Guam, along with another 100 to Saipan.
