Asanuma, 3 other Senators will not attend SORA

Senator Santy Asanuma yesterday has said that he and his other three colleagues, Caleb Otto, Yukiwo Dengokl and Surangel Whipps, will not attend today’s scheduled joint-opening of Regular Session of Congress at the upper chamber, where President Remengesau will deliver his State of the Republic Address.
This despite public announcement made by Koshiba over the radio yesterday morning.
During a special session on March 27, Koshiba was installed in a 4-3 vote of a Resolution seeking to replace the late Jonny Reklai.
Asanuma et al earlier filed a case in court to nullify the Resolution that put Koshiba as President of the Senate contending that his installation was unconstitutional.
Speaking on behalf of his three other colleagues, Asanuma said they insist that Koshiba and the other Senators on the other side of the fence should abide the Constitution.
"The only session we can attend is a session to be called by Senate Vice President Mlib Tmetuchl, " Asanuma said.
He said that this is because of the fact that Tmetuchl is the acting president in lie of the death of Reklai.
Asanuma and his colleagues insisted that Koshiba has no authority to preside until the court decide on the issue.
They also clarified that there is no majority or minority bloc in the Senate now because the numbers are even.
