WATCH & Learn
caught the last bus to the World Organized Rocball Community League finals
after beating the Dublon Chiefs, 79-36, in the deciding Game 3 of their
semis series yesterday at the Marianas High School Gym.
With the win, Watch & Learn will challenge the defending champion
Mwaliyas in a best-of-five championship showdown.
The Mwaliyas gained the first finals entry after defeating Da Lani Kynez,
also in a best-of-three title series, 2-1.
In the Watch & Learn-Dublon Chiefs tiff, the latter drew first blood
prevailing in Game 1 with a double overtime 52-43 victory.
Watch & Learn forced a deciding Game 3 when it pulled off a 56-54
juiced-out triumph in Game 2.
The eventual finalist started Game 3 strong winning by seven points in
the first set, 17-10.
Watch & Learn was more dominating in the second set limiting the Dublon
Chiefs to three points to nail a 12-point victory, 15-3.
The Dublon Chiefs gave Watch & Learn a good fight in the third set,
but still the latter eked out a 17-14 win.
With Watch & Learn sweeping the first three sets, the Dublon Chiefs
needed to win the fourth set to send the game into overtime.
But Watch & Learn had other plans and it did not include playing extended
minutes, as they took the fourth set, 20-9, to advance to the finals.
Mark McDonald led Watch & Learn with 18 points on eight kees and an
ace.
Tyce Mister added 14 markers on three aces, a kee and two goals, while
new recruit Travis Warren chipped in five on a xunx and a goal.
No Dublon Chiefs player scored in double figures, as Ybonn Kapwich had
only five markers on an ace and a goal.
Seven aces, a xunx, 16 kees and four goals were scored in the game.
The finals series will start on Monday.
