ACCORDING to the Commonwealth
Utilities Corp., Marianas Variety mistakenly reported on April 12 that
of 11 firms interested in the privatization of the CNMIs power business
the field was narrowed down to four.
CUC says Variety should have reported that of 11 firms that showed an
initial interest by obtaining the documents for the privatization request
for proposal, four followed through to actually submit proposals for the
pre-qualification phase of CNMI procurement.
The article went on to incorrectly assert that the four firms are therefore
pre-qualified. No firms are pre-qualified prior to the issuance of a certificate
of pre-qualification that will be issued by the existing CNMI privatization
committee not a committee that has yet to be formed as was also
incorrectly reported.
Evaluations of the four firms credentials and technical capabilities
will now take place and this is the purpose of the pre-qualification phase
of the procurement.
Firms that are issued a certificate of pre-qualification will then make
a determination whether to then submit a proposal for the purchase of
the CNMI power business as the next procurement phase takes place.
Parties are encouraged to go to www.cuccnmi.com for correct details.
