Boil water notice for Garapan canceled

(CUC) — Test results released at 11 a.m. Friday indicates that the water for Garapan and Puerto Rico does not contain E. coli any longer.
There is sufficient chlorine gas in these water supplies and the water is now treated. The notice that was issued to “boil water” has been canceled.

DEQ Cleanup Brigade to meet on May 5

(DEQ) — The Division of Environmental Quality cleanup brigade will be at it again, picking up trash at Aboni Beach in Garapan.  
If you would like to volunteer your time, be at Aboni Beach located behind the Mobil Gas Station/McDonald’s outlet on Saturday, May 5, at 8 a.m.    
The brigade will start at Aboni beach and head north toward Fiesta Resort & Spa.  
Volunteers will clean until 10 a.m. and break for drinks and then if continues, if needed. 
This month, outstanding brigade volunteers who participated in at least 10 monthly cleanups will receive a brigade cap and those who participated in at least three cleanups will receive a green brigade t-shirt.

SSHS PTA meeting

(SSHS) — Saipan Southern High School will hold a very important PTA meeting on Wednesday, April 18, at 6 p.m., in the cafeteria.

Rev & Tax advisory

THE Division of Revenue and Taxation says that residents although Friday, April 20, is an austerity holiday, its cashier section will be open to receive returns and payments for the 2007 monthly deadline for filing the bar and hotel tax returns.
The cashier section will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 20.
The deadline for the filing quarterly tax returns is Monday, April 30.
On that day, the division will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Mayor’s utility assistance program

(OFFICE OF THE SAIPAN MAYOR) — Mayor Juan B. Tudela has announced the availability of funds under the mayor’s utility assistance program to help qualified residents pay for one month of their power bill.
This is a federally funded program available to residents of Saipan who are unable to pay their power bill with the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.
Applications can be picked up at the mayor’s office at Afetnas Square in San Antonio during regular working days.

ChaCha report card distribution

(COJHS) — Chacha Oceanview Jr. High School informs all parents and legal guardians that the 3rd quarter report card distribution will be on Friday, April 20, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The students will be release at 12:30 noon. Parents are urged to set aside time to visit their children’s teachers and discuss the students’ progress.
