Frank ‘The Crank’ Camacho moves to 8-0

FRANK “The Crank” Camacho kept his unbeaten record in mixed martial arts after defeating John Ogo by referee stoppage in the first round of their match in the PXC XI: No Turning Back last Friday at the University of Guam field house.
Camacho after getting Ogo in a Muay Thai clinch landed two successful knees to Ogo’s head followed by seven quick blows that spell the end for Ogo. Referee Brant McCreadie stopped the fight giving the win to Camacho.
Camacho’s classmates from Marianas High School came here to support “The Crank.”
In other fights of the night, Maurice Eazel defeated Baby Joe Taimanglo using a hip-heist slam to KO Taimanglo in the first round. Chris Duenas improve to a 8-3 in his career after opponent Giovanni Sablan was disqualified for using a headbutt hitting Duenas to the jaw.
The first round was a fairly even match with both fighters expressing amazing ground skills. However with only seconds left, Sablan was caught with a headbutt on Duenas. The loss dropped Sablan to a 5-2.
Thaddeus Malbreaux madean impressive MMA debut winning decisively over Arturo Woods. Malbreaux won by KO after slamming Woods face-first into the mat.
Woods drops to a 4-4 in his career.
Micah Tobias also kept his perfect record improving to a 4-0 slate after defeating the hard hitting Wyneu “One Time” Bamba, who was coming off a loss to Sonny Chargualaf.
Tobias who predicted a knock out against the hard-hitting Bamba delivered on his promise by winning the match via TKO. Tobias, who showed great stand-up skills, forced referee Brant McCreadie to stop the fight after inflicting a cut under Bamba’s left eye and right temple with solid and straight punches.
Joe Camacho defeated Tetsuji Kato in a predicted knockout. Round one showed just how good Kato’s ground skills were as he smothered Camacho on the ground.
Camacho would not let Kato take the second round to the mat. He would keep Kato standing and would use his great striking ability to knockout Kato using a solid left followed by a knee to the head and five short blows to knock out Kato in the second.
Ryan Urquizo used his “Urquizo choke-out” in the first round to defeat Brian Howard in the first round. Urquizo came out with a flurry of flying knees that dazed Howard. He held Howard’s back while on the mat and won via submission.
Brian San Nicolas bowed to Jesse Taitano via a tap out due to a rear naked choke in the first round.
Justin Cruz improved his MMA record to 7-1 after defeating Elmer Idolor using a rear naked choke in the first round.
The heavyweight championship belt returned to Guam as heavyweight Roque Martinez knocked out Saipan’s Charles Aiken in the second round after delivering a solid right hand that dropped Aiken on his knees.
