FINAL Chapter ruled the co-ed volleyball tournament in the 2007 Northern Marianas College Intramurals last Saturday at the NMC Gym.
Final Chapter was undefeated in the tournament and capped the championship with a straight set win over Cultural Mix in the finals, 25-15, 27-25.
Cultural Mix had a chance to win the second set and force a deciding third set when it led at 24-23.
But, Final Chapter tied the game at 24-all and scored three more points to sweep the championship match.
With the win, Final Chapter went home with a championship trophy. Members of the team also received individual trophies.
Final Chapter is composed of Leon Sanchez, Mark Mendiola, Arlene Rabauliman, Dena Ngirchongor, Jennifer Ngeskebei, Shequita Bennett, Donald Tagabuel and Rosie Skilling.
According to tournament coordinator Dr. Kurt Barnes, four squads fought for the volleyball title. Teams played every Friday since February with the playoffs set over the weekend.
Last Friday, Final Chapter defeated the Bump Warriors in the semifinals, to gain a finals berth. Cultural Mix downed Samari in the other semis game to set a championship match against Final Chapter.
“This tournament is a good outlet for volleyball enthusiasts,” Barnes said.
Aside from volleyball, the 2007 NMC Intramurals also featured a basketball competition, which had five competing teams.
