PCC Mesekiu has virtually
clinched the 2007 Palau Major League pennant with a masterful 12-3 victory
over Airai on Friday night.
With the win, Mesekiu made it three in a row this season over the Aces
and is now 17-1 with three games left in the third round.
Even if it loses its three remaining games, Mesekiu has already assured
itself of the number one spot in the play-off round.
This even as Ngerbeched similarly scored a lopsided 22-11 win against
Koror, 22-11, on Saturday to seize the solo second place as it improved
its record to 13-5.
Kayangel was relegated to third place with a 12-5 record while Airai slipped
to fourth with 12-6.
The game between Kayangel and Ngaraard on Thursday was rained out while
the Peches-Ngaraard match-up scheduled on Saturday was cancelled due to
the injury sustained by the chief umpire, Nishimura Remoket, whose collar
bone was accidentally hit following a foul ball.
PML officials, however, could not yet give further details on the incident.
The rest of the team standings showed Ngardmau in fifth place with 9-8,
Peches sixth (4-14), Koror seventh (4-14) and Ngaraard eighth (0-17).
Tonights scheduled game between Airai and Ngardmau is cancelled
due to the Sports Banquet while Kayabgel and Ngerbeched will face each
other tomorrow.
Matches for the rest of this week will be between PCC and Koror tomorrow
(Wed. April 11), Airai vs. Ngaraard (Thu. April 12), Peches vs. Ngardmau
(Fri. April 13), Kayangel vs. Koror and Ngardmau vs. PCC (Sat. April 14).
