Rivals end second round with win vs. Peched to lead playoffs

The Ngermid Rivals closed out their second round schedule with a morale boosting 87-81 victory over defending season finals champion Peched Raw, 87-81, last Tuesday night in the NBL.
With the win, the Rivals further improved their combined first and second round record of 17-1 for the top spot in the playoff round to start on Monday.
The schedules are still being finalized during the coaches meeting as of presstime yesterday.
The Rivals will meet 10th ranked Ranchers (1-17).
The Breakers finished with 11-7 to stay in second position despite their 74-90 defeat to the Syxers last Wednesday night.
The Breakers will play against the ninth ranked Ikelauans (7-11) in the playoffs.
Peched settled for third place with a 10-8 record and will face eighth ranked Surangel Suns (7-11), The Styxers (10-8) are in fourth and will take on seventh ranked Meda (9-9), who lost to the Ikelauans, 63-72 on Wednesday.
The Ididers (9-9) are ranked fifth and will play against the Islanders (9-9), who closed their second round campaign with a 82-77 win over the Suns.
The Division II playoff round format will pit Pool A No. 1 Stingers (6-1) vs. Pool B No. 8 Kinsmen (0-7); Pool B No, 1 Ngiwal 79ers (6-1) vs. Pool A No. 8 Ngiwal Central (1-6); Pool A No. 2 Jaguars vs. Pool B No. 7 Mason’s Hardware (2-5); Pool B No. 2 Blue Sharks (5-2) vs. Pool A No. 7 Klebokel (1-6); Pool A No. 3 Mesang (5-2) vs. Pool B No. 6 On Fire (3-4); Pool B No. 3 Peches (4-3) vs. Pool A No. 6 Kabong (2-5); Pool A No. 4 Mesekiu (4-3) vs. Pool B No. 5 PPR (4-3); Pool B No. 4 Airai (4-3) vs. Pool B No. 5 Bullets (3-4)
