SIXTEEN participants from
the Commonwealth Health Center and the Department of Public Safety completed
a certifying training course for basic live saving on Saturday.
The two-day training started on Thursday and was conducted to allow the
participants to become instructors themselves, according to Estela Tano-Gapas
of the American Heart Association from Guam.
The association she said, is a non-profit organization that provides basic
life support training to healthcare providers and public safety officers.
Last weeks training was attended by 15 participants from CHC, DPS,
Rota Health Center and Tinian Health Center.
The participants were nurses, police, fire and emergency response officers.
The participants can now teach the public about basic life saving procedures,
Tano-Gapas said.
She added that the training had two levels heart saver and healthcare.
Participants learned about life-saving procedures particularly CPR.
Acting DPS-Fire Director Tom Manglona said that the certifying training
was part of the emergency first response training.
