Hopwood to again host Marianas March Against Cancer

By Emmanuel T. Erediano
Variety News Staff

THIS year’s Marianas March Against Cancer, the largest fundraising activity that benefits the local cancer program, will be held at Hopwood Junior High Schol next month.
Chris Concepcion, the group’s media and public relations chairman said as in the past, participants are encouraged to walk, run, or even dance around the course over a 12-hour period at the Hopwood field from May 18 to 19.
He said the entire community is invited to show their support by participating in the event.
Previous marches were also held at Hopwood.
Concepcion said the event “gives everyone an opportunity to celebrate cancer survivors — to remember those who have lost the fight, and to raise money and awareness for all those affected by the disease.”
The march is the signature fundraising event of the Commonwealth Cancer Association, a volunteer-driven organization that ensures that all funds raised in this event are spent locally.
They are encouraging individuals, companies, government agencies, schools and other organizations to take part in the event by joining or sponsoring a team.
